Grinding Metal examines potential waiver wire additions that can assist your team during the fantasy baseball season. From home runs to pitching strikeouts, Grinding Metal has you covered. Week 21 is here, so let's start things off.
Corbin Carroll, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks
One of baseball's top prospects is now the starting every day center fielder for the Diamondbacks. Carroll has speed and power, hitting 24 home runs and swiping 31 bags across 93 minor league games this season. Expect to see Carroll hitting in the middle-to-lower part of the lineup to start his career, but that could likely change given his talent.
Mark Canha, OF, New York Mets
The on-base numbers for Canha have never been an issue, but now that's he adding some power into his swing, he's worth adding as an outfield option. Over the past two weeks, he's hitting .368/.442/.868 with four home runs. He doesn't strikeout much and appears to have shed the platoon role from earlier in the season.
Gunnar Henderson, SS, Baltimore Orioles
Top rated prospect Henderson hit a home run in his first big-league game against the Cleveland Guardians. He'll get a look at third base, shortstop and second base over the last month of the season. In just over 500 plate appearances in the minor leagues this season, Henderson slashed .297/.416/.531 with 19 home runs and 22 stolen bases.
Jhoan Duran, RP, Minnesota Twins
A very good reliever who gets a ton of strikeouts with his triple-digit fastball. While they may not record saves like a traditional closer, Duran is worth adding to your roster for the occasional save and to beef up your strikeout total.
